The BnF Endowment Fund

The Endowment Fund of the BnF was established on 28 March 2015 to become a sustainable funding scheme for the public interest missions of the BnF.

A Sustainable Scheme for a Centuries-old Institution

This private structure is meant to receive and diligently administer the donations it receives by capitalizing them and redistributing dividends to the BnF yearly. The Endowment Fund thus meets the needs of the BnF with an additional source of revenue to solidify its long-term development.

Through the Endowment Fund, you attach your name to the oldest cultural institution in France. You are involved with the key missions of the BnF in three main areas:

  • The restoration of the Richelieu Library
  • The support to research through a grants programme
  • The diversification of the BnF audiences

The BnF Endowment Fund can receive donations, legacy gifts (lien hypertexte), and contributions.

Portrait of a philanthropist

As a long-term patron of the BnF, Mark Pigott laid the foundations for the creation of the Endowment Fund of the BnF in 2015. Thanks to his original donation, the Mark Pigott research Scholarship is awarded yearly to research projects in History, Arts and Art History, Innovation and Technology.
