Bourses de recherche sur les archives et fonds documentaires de la Custodie franciscaine de Terre sainte à Jérusalem

Mme Odetta Pizzingrilli est la première lauréate d’une bourse de recherche sur les collections de la Custodie franciscaine de Terre sainte dont la BnF soutient la numérisation et la diffusion sur Gallica dans le cadre du projet Bibliothèques d’Orient. Cette bourse de huit mois, attribuée conjointement par le Centre de recherche français à Jérusalem (CRFJ) et la BnF avec le soutien de The Andrew Mellon Foundation, constitue une aide à la recherche et à la rédaction de travaux académiques.

La lauréate, titulaire d’un doctorat en études politique et arabisante, se consacrera à un projet de recherche intitulé « Places, Voices and Faces. Retracing Identity Narratives of the “global city” of Jerusalem through the archives of the Franciscan Custody ». A partir d’un travail sur les expressions d’une citadinité hiérosolomytaine du milieu du XIX^e au milieu du XX^e siècle, elle exploitera et contribuera à mieux identifier et décrire plusieurs fonds conservés par la Custodie, notamment les photographies sur plaques de verres, des imprimés éphémères, des partitions musicales ainsi que les monographies publiées par les Presses franciscaines à partir de 1847.

Dr. Odetta Pizzingrilli is the first recipient of a research grant on the collections of the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land  digitised with the assistance of the BnF to be made available on Gallica as part of the Bibliothèques d’Orient (Libraries of the Middle East) project. This grant, for duration of eight months and intended as assistance for an academic research and writing project, is awarded jointly by the Centre de recherche français de Jérusalem (CRFJ, French Research Centre in Jerusalem) and the BnF with support from The Andrew Mellon Foundation.

The recipient, who holds a doctorate in political studies and a degree in Arabic, will pursue a project titled « Places, Voices and Faces.  Retracing Identity Narratives of the “global city” of Jerusalem through the archives of the Franciscan Custody ». With a focus on the manifestations of a Jerusalemite « citadinité » from the mid-19th to the mid-20th century, Dr Pizzingrilli will explore and contribute to a better knowledge and description of several collections held by the Custody including photographs on glass plates, printed ephemera, musical scores, and monographs published by the Franciscan Printing Press as of 1847.
